Founded in 1811, Ackerman is based in Saumur at the heart of the Loire Valley. It is superbly placed to supply wines from Muscadet, Anjou, Touraine, Vouvray, Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé and also specialises in Sparkling Wines. In fact, Jean Ackerman pioneered the Traditional Method in the region and for 40 years in the early 19th Century his was the only company producing such wines.
Among the range of labels available is Maison des Princes, which we had a big hand in developing for Donatien Bahuaud - a company now owned by Ackerman.
We expect to be busy serving Ackerman's customers in the UK with their current listings, but in addition, we will work with them to create new brands targeted at specific consumers in this market. An obvious example is Rose d'Anjou - the original "blush" wine, with it's appealing, commercial style and fashionably low alcohol.
