Description
A wine where the focus is on fruit in a big way! Dark cherry red to look at with hints of violet. The aromas are fruity and fresh with tremendouly intense black and red fruits and a touch of spice and chicory that is typical for Bullas Monastrells. The palate is full of ripe blackberries and blackcurrants with smooth tannins and nice acidity. This wine finishes with a spicy minerality making it ideal with grilled meats, tapas and pasta dishes.
Winemaking
The vines are planted in calcareous soils at altitudes of between 600-800m in the rolling hills of the Bullas region. Harvest was by hand during the last week of September / first week of October. Back at the winery, fermentation was at controlled temperatures (28 degrees C) in stainless steel tanks for around 10 days with 4 pumpovers per day. Malolactic fermentation took place to soften the wine. There was no contact with oak.
